About
Claire is a Peer Advisor in the Study Abroad Office at University of Illinois Chicago. She works with a team of international education professionals to guide students to explore new opportunities, discover their potential, and learn how to be global learners through travel and unique experiences. Claire is a great resource for students wanting to study abroad who want to know more about the process of getting there and all of the opportunities available for them based on what they want to do abroad. She has studied abroad multiple times, and she can help find programs and scholarships that best suit students.
Claire joined the Study Abroad Office in August of 2024. She is in her third year at UIC, and she is studying environmental and evolutionary biology. She has studied abroad with the First Year Flames Abroad program in Costa Rica as a student in 2022 and then again two years later as a peer leader in 2024. She has also been abroad with Pop, Art, and Culture that Rocked British Society program with the Honors College in 2023 and CEA CAPA’s program Spanish Language, Liberal Arts & Environmental Sciences in San Jose, Costa Rica for a semester in 2025. Claire is a first-generation college student and a Navigator Scholar.
Throughout her experiences on these faculty-directed programs, partnership programs, and as a program peer leader, she has discovered a passion for study abroad and aims to help introduce more students to these amazing experiences. As a first generation college student, she wants to show other first-generation students that study abroad can be more accessible than it may seem and that there are programs for everyone at UIC Abroad.
Claire can assist students choose a program, search for scholarships, and answer application questions.
