About
Claire is a Peer Advisor in the Study Abroad Office at University of Illinois Chicago. She works with a team of international education professionals to guide students to explore new opportunities, discover their potential, and learn how to be global learners through travel and unique experiences. Claire is a great resource for students wanting to study abroad who want to know more about the process of getting there and all of the opportunities available for them based on what they want to do abroad. She has studied abroad multiple times, and she can help find programs and scholarships that best suit students.
Claire is in her third year at UIC, and she is studying biological sciences with a concentration in environmental biology and ecology. She wants to go to graduate school and do ecological research. Claire is a first-generation college student and a UIC Navigator Scholar. She studied abroad with the First Year Flames Abroad program in Costa Rica as a student in 2022 and then again two years later as a peer leader in 2024. She also went abroad with the Pop, Art, and Culture that Rocked British Society program with the Honors College in 2023, and she most recently completed a semester abroad in the CEA CAPA San Jose, Costa Rica - Spanish Language, Liberal Arts & Environmental Sciences program in the spring of 2025.
Throughout her experiences as a science student with faculty-directed programs, as a program peer leader, and with a partnership program for a semester, she has discovered a passion for study abroad and aims to help introduce more students to these amazing experiences. She also wants to show students that study abroad can be accessible for everyone at UIC.
