About
Colleen serves as an Assistant Director of the Study Abroad Office for the University of Illinois at Chicago. She works alongside a team of international education professionals to advise UIC students to become global citizens. She works directly with faculty to expand faculty-directed study abroad programming. Additionally, she works closely with exchange and other study abroad program partners to increase access to education abroad by UIC students. Prior to UIC, Colleen worked as the International Student Recruiter at College of Lake County, where she was able to show her passion for international higher education by organizing and participating in recruitment fairs abroad and increasing international student enrollment despite global downward trends during the pandemic.
Colleen also worked at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies at Northern Illinois University as the Outreach Coordinator as well as the Director of the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) program supported by the Department of State. She worked closely with students as their Southeast Asian studies minor advisor as well their main point of contact for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) a language immersion fellowship. As an undergraduate and graduate student Colleen studied Anthropology and Southeast Asian Studies focusing on Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. She has studied abroad and lived throughout the region. At UIC, Colleen is expanding her global knowledge by advising programs offered in Central and South America, and Central and South-western Europe.
