About

Josefina serves as the Study Abroad Advisor of the Study Abroad Office for the University of Illinois at Chicago. She works alongside a team of international education professionals to empower UIC students to explore, learn, and grow through studying abroad. She is a great resource if you are interested in studying abroad but would like more general information or support in choosing a program. Additionally, Josefina supervises our team of dedicated Peer Advisors and supports them in their efforts to promote studying abroad on campus.

Before joining the team at UIC, Josefina worked as a Regional Director for a third-party study abroad provider, WorldStrides, where she was able to use her passion for studying abroad to promote programs and build relationships with different universities across the United States. Her efforts focused on helping students find study abroad programs that met their academic and personal goals, assisting with scholarship applications, and sharing resources to support diverse student populations. Josefina has studied abroad twice at the University of Manchester in England. Once for an academic year as an undergraduate in 2016-2017, and in 2022 she went back to pursue her MA in International Education (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). Josefina has a professional and personal passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the international education space, and is a great resource for students wanting to learn more about identity impacts when studying abroad.
